[And now he is going to try to message Bruce to see what this message is. Sure enough, an automated response immediately bounces back: "The contacted recruit is currently engaged out of your coverage area."
He looks over those same words for a long time before he finally decides what to say to Steve.]
[ He's closer to the rover than fifteen minutes so he'll be waiting outside when Tony shows up, hanging around just near the door and looking tense. The blackglass is in one hand, but he's not using the device - it just hangs at his side. Bruce and Natasha are the only ones giving off that message so far, that he's found. ]
Keep getting the same message for both of them. Spoke with Agent Carter earlier and got through to Barnes. [ The rest of their little group from Earth-199999 or whatever the heck they call it out here. There's a grimace as he looks down at the black-glass in his hand again. ] These things have a pretty decent range.
[ Across the known planet. So if they can't get through to them . . . ]
[His mouth subtly presses into a tight, thin line before he comes to a decision.] We should swing by their rovers.
[He knows the range of the black-glass devices can stretch across the planet. So if they're getting a message telling them that they were out of their coverage area, he's almost sure he already knows what they're going to find. But maybe there would be evidence. Or their rover mates would know something.]
[ A grim nod of agreement and he inclines his head in the direction they need to go, starting to walk.
They hit Natasha's first, for a fat load of nothing. No one to answer the door and he's getting the feeling that's not a coincidence. Not much to say once they're sure no one's there, and not feeling too great going to the next rover - he's noticeably more tense as they head that way.
Stopping in front of Banner's to let Tony knock this time. ]
[They go to Natasha's rover first, but nobody was home. He wasn't sure what he had been expecting--if he had even thought deep down that it would work regardless of what their black glass devices said--but he still feels the pit of his stomach drop when she's not there.
So by the time Steve and Tony reach Bruce's rover, he doesn't try to make his knocking on the door sound casual. He bangs four times in loud and rapid succession and then waits. The line of his shoulders pulled tighter than a bowstring and his lips pressed together, but he has his back turned to Steve so he can't see any change in his expression.]
DAY 32
Still here?
[ Besides the attack this morning, he's just found something else concerning... ]

As far as I can tell.

If that's your way of asking if I was part of the meat shower, then no. Still in one piece.

Not that.

Getting an automatic message when I text Natasha. Not sure if she went on furlough again. Tried you next.
[ Bad timing for it, but Natasha didn't tell them last time, so maybe it's just that again. She wasn't among the bodies at least. ]

What about Banner? Did you try him, yet?
